This worked for my purpose of installing the USB hub about 15 feet away with the cable tucked away neatly. I'll update when it dies, although it's stationary and only disconnects to the back of the desktop so I don't see any issues. Use something more powerful than a keyboard or mouse. Something like an external hard drive would require a powered USB hub.
