The gloves are waterproof but their heat retention/insulation is very limited. This makes them chunky due to the waterproofing but not warm due to their bulk (if that makes sense). I guess it's not a lot - $55 definitely not worth it, waterproofing is required in the pacific northwest winter as cold rain makes hands very cold, but they aren't warm enough for it to matter, without gloves I would have done it cold wet hands not cold dry hands but I still have cold hands!
