My daughter closed her Macbook Air while the ring was on the keyboard. It cracked the screen and I was looking for a $600+ repair. I've repaired quite a few iPhones over the past few years so I decided to try my hand at screen replacement. You need special tools, so do your research there. Some of the screws on the underside of the case are difficult to remove. I had to drill one out and of course you have to be very careful to remove all metal parts before opening the case. It wasn't a repair for a layman. Over 25 steps to remove and 25 steps to replace monitor. Very small wires and connectors are involved here, and a lot can go wrong. I have to open mine again as the fan is not working now. The small fan head is very difficult to reconnect. The display looks like the original, so there are no problems here. Just be careful and make sure you can take apart and reassemble your laptop.
