Our cats loved it straight away.
We had a similar scratching post, but it was very tough because our cats loved chewing on the scratching post as much as scratching it. This scraper is twice as dense as most scrapers. They didn't chew it, probably because it's denser. They don't chew anymore, so that's good. They liked it even before I had time to add catnip. The ability to fold it in half comes in handy when you need to get it out of the way when cleaning.
