I've opened over 10 bottles with this in the last week (yes we love wine :) and there has been no sign of a recharge. Documentation says it can open 60 bottles on a single charge, and that's not all. The transparent business portion of the opener helps center it over the cork. It is VERY EASY to use, even for arthritic hands.
