This gauge is mounted on a bracket with two cheap easy to penetrate sockets. If you twist the wires too tightly you risk grounding the battery directly to the frame. I almost burned down my tractor and my house. About 60 seconds of smoke and melting wires when I put the battery back in. Terrible design. Restoring the wiring harness cost me $50 in installments. Luckily the wiring harness melted in half otherwise I would have been in a REALLY bad situation. The gas tank is a few inches from the wiring harness and ammeter.
