Review on 🎢 Nagaoka MP-150H MM Cartridge with MP Type Shell - High-Quality Audio Cartridge from Japan by Peter Zouhair

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nagaoka's best point

From a diminishing return perspective, the MP-150 seems to me to be the best point in the Nagaoka series. It has a nice balanced sound (warmer than many AT carts but very detailed), great looks and wonderful tracks. With this cartridge, the IGD doesn't work at all for me (the MP-110 has bits in parts). The stylus isn't quite as exotic: an uncoated 0.4 x 0.7 elliptical diamond on a tapered aluminum cantilever, but there's improved tracking over the MP-110. The Lego block shape makes this cartridge easier to line up than others I've worked with. With. On some turntables (especially the Technics) the cartridge overhangs quite a bit over the end of the headshell due to boss requirements for certain orientations. In some cases it may be a little short. The head body that comes with this kit is slightly longer and some weight has been removed to compensate. I was able to achieve any alignment I wanted with no problem.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
