The volume buttons are for decorative purposes only in my opinion as the volume stays the same no matter how many times you press or hold down the - and + buttons. I bought this product to put next to me when I sleep but I had to turn off the "music" because it was distracting and too loud, not relaxing at all. I wouldn't want to listen to this music during a massage or spa treatment either. . It would drive me crazy! Most of the music is rain, but it's more of a storm than a relaxing rain, partly because of the volume. Another option is static, right? Maybe it relaxes someone. Not the wave music option makes me feel like I'm getting away from them instead. I gave 2 stars overall based on health value but for the item itself I would say it's 1 star. line: Too loud, volume not adjustable, and I wouldn't pay extra for "relaxation music".
