Although this case is strong enough to protect the pencil from possible drops or splashes and serves to thicken the pencil for a comfortable grip when drawing/writing, I can use it with an iPad case not recommend. Of the ones I've tested, either the iPad case slips enough to knock the stylus out of the docking station, or the pencil case is too big to fit in the dock (meaning you'll have to remove one or the other to remove it charge the battery). If you want to use it when you don't have a protective case for your iPad, it will work well. Unfortunately, that's not my situation. Very happy with the product otherwise.
