This is for 2017 Dell XPS-13. I wanted to use USB C; one connection for everything, including charging. However, the third-party docking station I originally purchased for this purpose did not work well with my monitor. Neither HDMI nor DisplayPort worked so it was brought back. It turns out this isn't an uncommon problem, and I recently read an article on a tech site asking if USB-C really does what it says on the tin. Sigh. This dock works well, the only trade-off is that I have to connect to USB 3 and the laptop's power adapter. However, the connection is solid and my laptop-driven desktop setup works great. Update in six weeks. Switching between laptop and docking station isn't as smooth as we'd like. After using my laptop alone, the screen size of some application windows, such as B. Outlook, just wrong the next time you connect to the dock, even if the laptop was powered off before docking. You'll need to restart again for the windows to look like they should on the big monitor. I downgraded my rating by one star for this (admittedly minor) inconvenience.
