Good filtering, know your network for detailed settings

It took a little research to understand how a router differs from a mini. We chose a router to have seamless control that couldn't be overridden by a smart teenager. I can also control this on the go and my wife finds it easy to set up on her phone too. Our Wi-Fi network was spectrum and had an Eero network to cover the house. The network compatibility list states that the router may not work with either Spektrum or eeros. I took a risk and it worked. I had to put the eeros in bridge mode and replace the spectrum router with a 1GB router limit block. I disabled broadcasting on my router to control the WiFi signal through eeros. All in all, once I figured these things out, installing the hardware was a breeze. Setting up groups can be difficult. Identifying the sending device can be difficult when there are many devices in the house. The tedious way is with the MAC address, but it works. Old TVs, soundbars and other devices are not easy to identify. I've divided my kids' devices into Play, TV, and School groups so I can turn things off at different times and manage URLs differently. Parental controls are pretty good and it's easy to add common filter items to the group. I like the ability to blacklist or whitelist individual URLs. You can even split subcategories into a separate group within the device's limitations. Software developers need to find a way to copy the URL settings to the new group. For now, you have to edit each setting manually. A relatively minor disappointment if you have long lists. As for the limits, I would have preferred to be able to set the active time and limit time to the minute, but hourly work will do. I'd love to see a way to stop YouTube for adult content, but YouTube intentionally made it difficult to rate content. And I can't find a way to block individual channels. My next project is installing content filtering software on individual devices. Overall, this is one of the best investments I've made to protect my family. I would highly recommend Cleaner Net, although it took me a while to figure out the details.
