I plugged it in and immediately got a great mirror image of my desktop (ASUS laptop, WinX Pro, micro HDMI to HDMI cable). A few clicks and I had an extended desktop focused on the monitor's actual position relative to my laptop. As promised, the resolution is excellent and the sound of the monitor is more than sufficient for my purposes. I've viewed some spreadsheets, photos, charts, and 1080p movies with no issues. I haven't tested movie refresh rates above 30 fps, so I don't know how good it is for serious gaming, but I won't be using it for that. Two minor complaints. The monitor may be brighter when powered from the AC adapter. If the monitor is powered from USB from a laptop, then I understand the need for energy saving, but if it is powered from a home network, then there is no reason not to make the picture bright. The second and even smaller is the box. The package includes front and rear foam protectors and form-fitting monitor edges. Perfect for carrying your monitor when traveling, right? NO - It is 4-5 inches wider than the monitor + foam to accommodate cables, stands and adapters. Too wide for most luggage, including any permitted carry-on luggage. I spent about 15 minutes stripping the box down to the bare minimum needed just for the monitor and it fits perfectly in my laptop bag or roll-on travel bag. You should make an "inner" box scaled down to the actual size of the monitor - another cardboard box, but one that would be very travel friendly. independently until tightened. However, it's very stable when tightened, very flexible in terms of monitor angle, good for landscape or portrait mode, and very compact so worth a little tweaking. Packaged cables, stands, adapters. . . everything except my laptop, which I left charging on a side table in my home office :-( Someone at the meeting was kind enough to get me a loan, but it's a Mac, not a Windows computer like my laptop. I got the Bit of a tooth on a Mac, but haven't used it in a while Plugged it in, plugged it in and VOILA - my desktop image popped up, albeit at a very low resolution for some reason while I was getting the right relative positions and resolutions got screens from both but I chalk it up to my limited familiarity with Mac OS Next to a Mac Retina display at 100% brightness it's definitely dimmer and dimmer but it's very sharp and stable and the extra real estate is much appreciated it continues to withstand the rigors of travel, it's definitely a keeper.
