Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Logitech Harmony Adapter for PlayStation 3 - Discontinued by Manufacturer: A Must-Have Accessory by Michael Murphy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Slightly pricey perfection but gets the job done

My number one Christmas present this year was the Logitech Harmony One remote and I know I'd go crazy if it wasn't for that PS3 adapter that came with it. People may be wondering: Why do I need this? Well, because the PS3 designers, in their flawed wisdom, didn't equip the PS3 with an infrared receiver. It works entirely through an associated Bluetooth connection. So this PS3 adapter accepts infrared signals and converts them to Bluetooth. It's worth noting that when using HDMI connections, modern TVs have a good ability to control connected HDMI-enabled devices. For example, our Sony Bravia TV remote can actually control basic navigation and many other functions on the PS3, but only when the PS3 is already on. This is the only major problem I've encountered. Connecting is easy: just plug it in. Turn on your PS3. Go to the "Settings" menu and find the option to add "BD Accessories". Instruct PS3 to search for a new device. Press the small connect button on the bottom of the adapter. Done.Config Note: PS3 appears to be able to support only one remote Bluetooth device. If you have already bought another e.g. For example, a "Blu-ray player" style Sony Bluetooth PS3 remote (the one sold here on Revain costs about twenty dollars), that remote will be disabled. As I said, PS3 only allows you to use one. But hey, you have a Harmony One (or other Harmony remote) instead of the others. What's left in the drawer? The basic PS3 Harmony setup from their online database was pretty good, but I still tweaked some of the buttons and then added some extra features to the Harmony One's touch display. Although I've only had my Harmony One for a day, it's working great so far. I liked that you could just tap "Watch movie on PS3" and turn on the TV (which automatically turns on the AV receiver) and then also hear the PS3 beep when it turns on. So far so good in terms of how all the features work. My only complaint is that this adapter really should cost half as much. Maybe the price will go down over time. On the other hand I looked at other converters and others were even more expensive or where they were cheaper people said the converters didn't work very well. Will i buy it again? Yes. Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes.
