Review on Puig 6375W Clear Multi-Adjustable Clip-On Visor - 315mm x 100mm by Eder Boesel

Exceptional product! Fully functional!

I rarely write reviews but had to write about this as it solved the main complaint about my Yamaha Tmax 500 hitting my helmet unbearably at or above 45mph (at 70mph Tmax was impossible to do without earplugs drive ). Clip Puig on Visor #6375W brilliantly solved the whole problem. I'm 6ft 3in in boots, 200lbs, and the stock Tmax windshield is well made and efficient, but not for taller riders like me. Installing the Puig and setting it to the highest position completely eliminated any bumps. I'm taking off a star for the price and the incredible lack of instructions, but for $106 and free shipping it did the trick and honestly I either had to fix the wobble issue or sell the bike so I'm happy. Instruction Notes: Install the front mounting clips. on the visor BEFORE attaching the rear clips to the existing windshield. Tighten the front mounting screws slowly and evenly, being careful not to overtighten. Then open the rear mounting clip and slide it onto the windshield. Look closely at the right/wrong illustration in the crap guide that came with the visor. She will show you the correct front and rear mounting plate angles to duplicate for proper rigidity. After using a tape measure to ensure the visor is positioned over the center of the windshield and at the correct angle, slowly and carefully tighten the rear bracket clamp screw. Be aware that the windshield may break if you overtighten. After installation, adjust the middle ratchet arms SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY. This setup process is not intuitive and requires a lot of effort. What I did was gently grasp the rear clamp mount, slowly adjust the center arm one at a time, making sure there was no pressure on the visor itself or my windshield. I can well imagine cracking a visor or windshield at this point if you're not careful. The highest and lowest position of the visor provides the greatest rigidity as the center arm presses against the mounting clips. For my setup, the highest position worked best. I've read that guys adjust the ride height on the fly. I can't imagine the visor lasting that long. It's a plastic ratchet system and to be honest I think the more you adjust the weaker it gets and the collapsing mount and visor flying in my face isn't what I'm after at 70mph hour search. So for me it's a once set and forgotten sight. Photos of my 2009 TMax setup are attached. Note. Puig supplies small plastic caps for cold black anodized aluminum hex head screws on the front mounting clips. These cases immediately found a new home in my trash. Not only do they make the visor cheap, but they require a lot of effort to install, giving you another chance to bend/break the visor.
