Review on 🍲 Toshiba EC042A5C-BS Countertop Microwave Oven with Convection: Smart Sensor, LCD Display, 1.5 CU.FT, Black Stainless Steel by George Cochran

This rating refers to the combination microwave/convection 1.5. It seems medium to me, not too big, but I'm used to the built-in one, and this one is smaller! I bought this as a gift for my mom as her new house didn't have a built in microwave and she loved the idea of an extra oven for the holidays. It included 2 stands, a turntable, a turntable stand/mount and a small instruction manual. We tried all the settings right away because we didn't want to be surprised later when it was too late to send it back. We removed the glass turntable and plastic stand/bracket before trying the convection and combo settings. The convection lasted about as long as my preheat oven, I smelled like plastic but I smelled it with my normal oven when I first bought it new and I think it's normal for first time use. It got quite warm outside but I could still put my hand on it and it wasn't as warm as the convection toaster I own. The back of the fan also didn't get as hot as the sides and top during operation. I would recommend using common sense when working with this unit rather than using metal in the microwave or combo settings and removing the platter as its mount is plastic when using combo or convection mode. A good set of glass bakeware would be ideal, along with a convection oven cookbook containing both healthy conversions and recipes. My best advice: find out how he cooks, I've never had two ovens, especially convection ovens, cook the same way. Have fun cooking!
