Review on Melissa Doug License Wooden Players by Jeremy Carpenter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great travel game for the whole family!

When I was younger and my family and I went on vacation it was ALWAYS a game we played to keep kids busy. My mom always had a notepad and pen, and we used to look up all the license plates and try to find all 50 states. Then my mother had us try to guess the capitals of each of those states. Now that I'm an adult and love to travel with my family, I like to keep the tradition alive and play the license plate game with them along the way. However, I hate having a pad and pen with me that get thrown in the car and thrown everywhere. I saw this a year ago when I lived in the Star Valley area of Wyoming but it cost $50 and I thought it would be easy to do it yourself, that was 4 years ago. On our last family trip we took, I decided I had to see what I could find in the form of an online license plate game. My parents now have a magnet that they like, but they say the magnets aren't very strong and still tend to shift and move as you open and close the game. I found this when I searched on Amazon and ordered it for our family to take with us on our trip. I really like this board, it's thick and doesn't feel like it's falling apart. I just wish it was a little smaller to fit under the seat or in the glove box so I only gave it 4 stars not 5. The number plates hold up well and are secure so no need to flip or mix them up. It's nice that the capital is printed on the back in case you forget something to cheat and look up ;-) Red and blue should be used when playing in teams but my family used them to try and to guess which state is red and which state is blue. Melissa and Doug have done it again and made a quality product at a great price. This fun game keeps kids busy looking for all the license plates they can find. What a great game to play in the car with family and I love that it can be used as a learning tool to teach kids about the 50 states and capitals.
