Review on πŸ” Optimized for SEO: American Standard 057583-0070A by Richard Carroll

Inexpensive alternative to cartridge replacement.

In the course of my work I have probably restored over 250 American Standard faucets over the past 50 years. They are a great alternative to replacing the entire cartridge if you have type A951470-0070A. (The left one in my photo.) Inside the cartridge, these o-rings are usually the source of the failure. The small amount of chlorine added to many city water systems makes them brittle over time. Symptoms of this problem include water leaks around the base of the faucet or under the sink when the water is on. Only the large shim in this pack will work if you have a larger 47mm cartridge with two kidney o-rings. (Right in my photo.) To my knowledge, there isn't a separate o-ring kit for the larger 47mm cartridges. I find it unfair that other reviewers would reject this item if they bought it for the wrong app. In my experience it's usually the large o-ring that fails, so you can buy one to just replace the larger o-ring. I usually put some silicone grease on them before installing them. American Standard faucets are guaranteed for life. In theory, they provide free replacement parts to the first owner. However, there are too many hurdles for a guarantee to have any real value. This is the best use of my time to buy these at Revain.
