I have an automatic ice cream maker in my freezer, so I've never bothered to try any of the ice cream molds. But now that I have it, wow! The ball melts very slowly, allowing my drink to stay cool without diluting it too much. I will say that I'm not entirely sure how to pour water into the mold properly. There are no instructions on the packaging. I also found that the ice cream balls don't fall out of the plastic mold that easily. Maybe if I put them on for a while before using them? I quickly ran them under water to try and loosen them up. I'm also worried about the plastic mold tearing if I try to tap it, press it or whatever to get the balls out. I have a feeling if they came with instructions I would give them a 5 star rating. I've also found that ice can crystallize on the outside (like old, stale ice) even if I just added water the night before. I hoped they came out crystal clear. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I also had them in the shape of an egg, probably because I didn't add enough water when trying to leave room for expansion, hoping that would help them come out more easily. With more practice, I'm sure I'll figure out the right water level to get a nice ball, and maybe an easier way to knock it out of shape. In general, I like them very much.
