I have had many Garmin units over the years and they usually get better with time. The 61LMT-S has a great screen, and the road ahead at the top and the current screen at the bottom are very easy to read. Current maps also look good. The software was updated tonight. The optical driver warnings are an absolute nuisance. Garmin has to give a lot of thought to the ability to switch off completely. School zones, curves, railroad crossings, animal crossings and others block an upcoming street name about every minute. This is totally annoying and unnecessary. This is the worst feature they have ever added. My previous model only had school zones, which was bad enough. It's also a little misleading to say you can opt for "audible" driver alerts. If I had known you were going to get stuck with all those visual warnings I would never have bought it. I can see from the other reviews that I'm not alone. Luckily I have a charger with traffic from my previous GPS, although this one is now unable to receive traffic.
