Review on 🔧 TORREY PC80L: The Ultimate Electronic Rechargeable Construction Tool by Paul Andrews

I bought one of the 80# versions of Revain and the poor thing was wrecked in transit. The brackets were spot welded and floated freely in the box, and the corners of the scale's stainless steel top cover were split and razor sharp. None of this is a scale error, but it does indicate how heavy the cast-iron base is. Gives the weight a very solid look and to be fair the scale has easily adjustable feet and a built in bubble for leveling. The reason for my harsh assessment is the charger and built in battery in this thing. The charger is small and cheap and looks just like what you could find on a cheap cell phone 15 years ago. But the real problem is the battery - this thing comes with a 4V lead-acid battery installed. The battery is available, which is good because the lead-acid battery needs to be replaced after a few charge/discharge cycles. I have no idea where you will buy a replacement for this battery - maybe the manufacturer sells it? But it's ridiculous to build a good scale out of stainless steel that's meant to last and then cram a lead-acid battery into it. Must be a lithium battery. The battery is about the size of a baby juice box and is clearly marked 4V VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) and Pb Recycle. Of course, that's not something I'd like to support.
