This happened when my original Xbox console died (bad capacitors). I decided that if I replaced some parts, I might as well replace a few others. It's a little tight at the top due to the built-in fan having a thinner custom shape (and clips), but it still fits great. I held it in place with some zip ties and a few drops of hot glue. Be careful when installing, the bottom clips in the console are fragile and may break. I used mine perfectly, but it took a little patience. There weren't any issues, and while I can't say the noise level is any better than the old fan, it certainly doesn't seem any worse. It won't be a silent silver bullet, but it worked well. I'm glad the fan was sold at such a great price.
