I bought this because the buttons are constantly being pressed when my key is in my pocket - I beep when I sit down to eat or walk out of the house and notice that my battery is dead because the trunk is open. The lid should definitely prevent the lock/unlock buttons from being pressed and I'm hoping that the rubber layer will make it harder to accidentally open the trunk. BUT there is a thin strip of rubber between the lock/unlock buttons that constantly catches and pulls a bit. My guess is that the strip comes off, then the whole cover comes off - we'll see.
