The toy was bought for a 5 year old grandson. He can stick chopsticks into plastic balls and create structures, but he can't assemble them without adult help. I'm sure the older kid can handle it on their own. Another reason why an adult needs help is that it takes time to complete any of the proposed structures (igloo, airlock, tunnel) and when the child is done, they will get tired of the activity. If you really want your child to have fun, make the build after the child has gone to bed and they're guaranteed to be entertained for a long time. Linens are required. The construction is not strong enough to hold the ceilings. Another suggestion is to buy a plastic basket for sticks and balls. Larger sets are available, but this set can be built for 2 small children (4 and 5 years old).
