Review on DJI OSMO Pocket Part Expansion by Robert Lee

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good set of addons for DJI Pocket 2. Some limitations. (Also works with Osmo Pocket 1st Gen)

I recently purchased a DJI Pocket 2 and am pleased to report that this kit is fully compatible with it and adds many features that the unit lacks or missing box. At the time of writing, this kit was available for $62.99, which I think is reasonable, but at its original price of $109.99, I think it would have been a bit harder to sell. price of this kit. This allows you to control Pocket 2 from the DJI Mimo app on your phone. This makes tweaking settings and adjusting shots much easier than on the camera itself, and it's quite nice to be able to do it wirelessly as you can step away from the camera and see live what you look like in the shot. I haven't had any connection issues or lag, it seems to work almost immediately and is pretty much the same as plugging the phone directly into the camera. It also has USB-C on the back so you can charge your Pocket 2 with a Wi-Fi adapter. HOWEVER, there is no tripod screw at the base of the wireless adapter, which I think is ridiculous. So if you want to use this as a tripod at the same time, you have to set it up differently. You also lose data transfer and are limited to charging only via the base, so external microphones or the like are missing as well. So you get wireless connectivity, but you lose a few other things in return. And one more note. The manual in the box tells you an incorrect WiFi password. Connect the adapter to your phone, then enter the accessory settings directly on the camera to enter the correct passcode. The steering wheel is excellent and works much better than the little joystick that comes with the Pocket 2. You can do a lot more. Move with it, but only in 2 directions at once and not all 4. There is a small switch to move between up/down and left/right. And the optional mount basically allows you to mount your camera GoPro/action cam style. Connections. It's solid and holds the camera well, but you'll have to remove any adapters you have on the front. However, the WLAN adapter still fits on the base. And a micro SD card. too small and too slow. It would be fine for 1080p recording but won't handle the higher frame rates of 4k. This kit adds some functionality to the Pocket 2. It does have some flaws as I've tried to explain, but overall it's a good kit. at a reduced price. If it's full price, I'd probably just go with DJI's new all-in-one grip, which has most of the functionality built into it. It's a shame you need so many accessories to add fairly mundane functionality to a camera, but it is what it is.
