I am 5'3.5" and weigh 125-130 pounds. I usually wear size 6 or medium shorts. I ordered a large one based on the reviews. It's a little loose, but comfortable. I'm not sure if the medium would fit better or if it would be too tight. No abdominal support. I use these shorts for beach volleyball and fitness training. These are great shorts for the price. It doesn't come up when I crouch.
