Very useful! I work in a medical lab and all the computers are muted. I don't know why or how and I've tried to solve the problem. But once you plug it in, you've got a little boombox! The sound quality isn't bad, and yes, you control the volume from your computer (or whatever device you're using). Instead of wasting my phone's battery listening to music, I use this on work computers. It's convenient and I don't have to touch my phone, especially when handling biohazardous medical samples. It's convenient and cheap.
