
First, no assembly instructions were included with this case. If, like me, you're used to building full-size PCs, the way this case is built is counterintuitive. Essentially, you first need to attach the risers to the Pi4 PCB with textured nuts, and then attach the Pi4 to the case with the short black screws. I gave this case one star because mine arrived with one of the case screws already installed. . After 20 crazy minutes trying to get the screw out, I pulled out my dremel and sanded down the head of the screw until I could pull the case apart. I consider this to be poor quality/poor quality control. The case comes with a nice set of heatsinks that are actually the right size for Pi4 chips (some kits still include heatsinks for Pi3). This is my third Pi case with a fan in it, and it's by far the quietest. It doesn't seem to move as much air as the others, but so far it has kept my Pi4 from overheating - something I haven't been able to achieve with an OEM Pi4 case. The case is easy to assemble - it actually consists of only two parts. except the fan. The fan cable is quite long, so you need to be careful how you insert the cable into the case to avoid catching it on the fan blades. I have mixed thoughts on how RICHEN handled the microSD slot. In all my other cases, the hole for the SD card slot exposes the entire top (on the bottom of the Pi board) of the slot so you can stick your thumb in there and pull it out. RICHEN chose to simply leave the microSD card sticking out from the side of the case. I was expecting to have trouble grasping the card to pull it out, but the gap is just enough for my fingernail to comfortably reach the edge. This means the case doesn't really protect the SD card, but there are few scenarios where this can actually be an issue. The power and access lights on the Pi board will glow outwards. However, RICHEN has two holes that line up perfectly with the Pi4's LEDs. I was happy to discover this. In summary, this is a nice solid case with a few quality issues (namely that stripped screw). It could be because of some simple instructions because if you try to assemble them in the wrong order they won't fit at all. It cools the Pi4 because the metal dissipates heat better and the fan keeps the warm air moving. The price is very decent for a case with a fan. Pros: - Metal - dissipates heat better - Fan - circulates warm air - Fan is quiet - Fits perfectly - Matching heatsinks for Pi4Cons: - No instructions - Quality control issues (loose screw)
