I just want to scan documents. Point. Nothing superfluous. And if that's what you want, then you're going to love this little scanner. I just received it today. I connected it. I followed very simple instructions. I downloaded the drivers from the Epson website according to the instructions. Everything works simply and easily. you push a button You insert a sheet of paper into the scanner. You press the button again. He scans. It saves the file as a PDF. You tell him where to put the PDF file. It is so easy. 1) I have a Win10 laptop 2) I have NOT registered the device with the supplied software product key. It is not necessary to "register" this product with Epson to access "new products" and features. I don't have to worry about pop-ups and emails, and I don't really need to share my email and personal information with any other online entity. 3) I went to "Settings" in the scanner program and updated the scanner's image quality from the default 200 dpi to 300 dpi. It's almost ideal for scanning documents, although 200 dpi is sufficient. 4) I haven't installed any additional updates for OCR recognition (I don't need it), Check Management (I don't need it) and other add-ons.
