I like this teether more than plastic teethers. In general, I think it's a good idea to avoid plastic. It's silicone, but it reminds me of plastic teeth rings. It has a different texture on each handle, just like my plastic handles. It is denser and does not contain gel or water inside like plastic. But the silicone ring is easy to crush and manipulate in the hand. It is completely odorless and contains nothing dangerous. This is a one-off. It is very smooth with texture and raised bumps. It is harder and offers bite resistance. It's made in China but distributed by a Michigan company. I am very happy with the ring. My little one loves to hold it. I think it's a handy size because it's a bit smaller. However, it's still large enough to fit securely in your mouth.
