I have been using this for over 18 months with great success in a formula that comes in a plastic box but that packaging in a cardboard box must be another formula or the one I use Received a defective unit as my smoke alarm went off within 30 minutes of plugging it in. We entered the room where it was on, we smelled an unpleasant oily odor.
