This was one of our firstborn daughter's 'first toys' (this Taggies Heather Hedgehog rattle, a set of plastic cups and a Manhattan Toy angle rattle were her 4 'first toys', I highly recommend them all recommend ). She was a preterm IUGR baby, so she didn't get interested in toys until about 4 months old (before that she had a lot of tummy problems), but when she was ready for toys, she immediately perked up and reached for "Mr. Erisson” (Mr. Herisson). Hedgehogs - we are a French speaking family). She LOVES "Mr. Erisson's rattle, "his" personality (I don't know why she thought her toy hedgehog was a boy), beads. Front and the possibility of CUTTING. We LOVE that it's low-tech, she has multiple ways to play with it, and it's easy to clean even after throwing up on it a thousand times. Now, at 10 months, she has "outgrown" her "Herisson". (Running around and being naughty seems new to her), she comes back to "Mr. Erisson" on a daily basis, especially when she's teething or when she wants to "show" she can keep a musical beat. Even today, when we take her to the doctor or to the restaurant, this is one of our favorite toys. TLAS: This toy gave our daughter hours of enjoyment (even while she was getting her shots at the doctor's office). Easy to clean for parents. I may just be a first-time parent, but I highly recommend this toy.
