Review on Kats 11425 Watt Frost Heater by Larry Breeze

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works on an old S-10 truck with a 2.8 liter engine

I installed this on my 1986 GMC S15 pickup - same as the Chevy S10 pickup - with a 2.8 liter V6 engine. It goes near where the smoke pump should be, under the generator, and I believe the spec should say 9 o'clock. The place is easy to get to with that motor, but if you have a crosscar it will probably be a different story. I was patient and didn't turn it on until I started a cold engine and let it run for 15 minutes to make sure all the bubbles were gone. The freeze plug wasn't too difficult to pull out, but I wish the brass screw heads weren't so flimsy. Since it has a rubber gasket and I don't want this thing to leak, I tightened these screws up pretty well. They have to have screw heads and a torque rating, but oh well. I think he used some stupid allen key or allen wrench that I didn't like the size of. So far it's working well and I've found it even helps with battery temp as just that block heater melts the snow off the hood which should help the cold crank boosters too. Should be 4.5 stars for dull screws.
