If you try to use them with an air pump you're going to have a bad time. CO2 operates at a much higher pressure but less volume when your air pumps are trying to push a larger volume of air to low pressure elements like foam filters and airstones. Also, I thought at first they might be defective and not leaking as I couldn't force air through them by hand or with a pump, but decided to hook them up to my CO2 systems to make sure I knew how much pressure was required. to overcome the diffusers, so I figured they would need the same pressure as well. I mean, they're designed to stop that back pressure when the system shuts down to prevent backflow, so it should be able to withstand that, right? I connected one to a stainless steel reactor with baking soda + citric acid and one to a bottle of sugar/yeast. After I repressurized both systems, both started working again.
