While I was pleased with the audio and video quality of this device, it does have a few features that some readers may find useful in their selection. I bought this unit last year and specifically wanted the disc changer to suit the fact that I mainly played DVDs of some classic TV shows and the occasional music CD. It's very convenient to leave a TV series disc in the changer until you're ready to move on to the next disc. For example, you can instantly switch from an episode of Colombo to an episode of Wild Wild West. However, I find three quirks unpleasant: Music CD playback. sound is not a problem. It is that after the player finishes a music CD, it doesn't stop but immediately moves on to the next CD, whatever it may be. The only way to stop this is to press the button that opens the compartment. The STOP button has no effect unless you forget to press it within a few seconds of the end of the disc. If you've read or weren't paying close attention, you'll need to press the button to open the compartment. I just don't think it's a very convenient option. There is an alternative, you can program the CD. It then returns and starts playing the CD from the beginning. However, the programming of this model is somewhat cumbersome. This does not mean that DVD playback is a problem. Most DVDs are programmed to stop after an episode or chapter or at the end. However, CDs are different. My second complaint is the direction of the plate. It doesn't matter which way it spins, but that the disc you're trying to eject moves clockwise as you open the tray. So you have to click 4 times to get it back. It just always seems to go that way. Sony could have programmed it to eject the second most common disc with just a twist of the tray. Also, this player could easily be designed to allow simultaneous access to two discs with the tray open, rather than a full disc plus halves of two others which it currently allows. After all, Sony didn't design the remote control. for easy selection of a drive. You have loaded your discs into the player and sit down. But you forgot to press the disk number button on the device. Now there is no way to select a disc for playback with one touch. You have to go through the display menu and it's pretty easy, but it would still be more convenient if the remote had buttons to play the disc instantly. I also bought this unit to replace my old slider. Projector. Now that all my new photos are digital and more and more of my old color slides have been scanned, the JPEG display is good. Unfortunately I don't have a quality monitor to really say if this device is doing the job I wanted in that regard. Although it recognizes and displays JPEG images as advertised. I would give this unit 5 stars for DVD playback quality but took two away due to usability issues. I've owned it for half a year now and haven't had any hardware problems. If the issues I mentioned do not affect your intended use of this player, please feel free to consider this a 5 star rating.
