Quick background. 6 1/2 years ago we moved to Florida with our 8 teenage children (7 adopted) and bought a new Samsung front loading washer/dryer set. After about 4 years it really started to stink. Which in hind sight is a very long time to go without cleaning the washing machine. First we tried the online suggestions like vinegar, baking soda and others but they had almost no effect. Then we tried 2 different commercial products that we bought at Walmart. While going through the cleaning cycle I noticed a lot of small chunks / flakes floating in the water so I repeated 2 more times until the water was mostly clean. Both products worked about the same and kept the machine smelling good for about a month. But it was never totally FRESH. Fast forward 2 years - 4 kids have moved out and we are doing Foster Care so there are even more people in the house. As part of a home addition we now have a large laundry room made for 2 sets, and bought another Washer and Dryer. I hooked up the new set and kind of forgot about the old set for about 3 months. This weekend the project was to hook up the old set and get it running as well. In preparation for this I had purchased these tablets because I was tired of paying $2 per cleaning tablet and figured they were worth a shot. First I cleaned out the washing machine filter. It was damp and nasty smelling after 3 months and filled with the type of stuff you would expect to come out of kids pockets. I then ran it through 3 rinse cycles just to rinse out the soap and scum, followed by a hot SANATIZE cycle with two of these tablets. I followed this with another rinse cycle but the Machine seemed to be draining slowly. So after the cycle I pulled out the filter again and found it packed full of GUNK. I didn't think to take a picture of the filter before cleaning it out - but think about it - this was all the crud that had built up on the sides of the drum that the other products had not broken free. This was only my first use of the product and I have no long term experience with it, but as first impressions go, Wow I am impressed.
