First impression. I was upset when my old, I my old Conair iron died. He was at least 20 years old. Anyway, there are hundreds of irons out there. where to start So I looked at about 40 different models before settling on this one. My hair is not curly but rather unruly and unruly. I use a flat iron to make it more controllable, easier to comb and smoother. If I don't I can't brush it, it gets tangled easily and it feels like I'm always in a hurricane. Pros: It heats up quickly. I barely had time to comb my hair before it was 450*. The plates fit perfectly. I had to push them down a bit for fine detail, but even then it was negligible. I really like the LED display, welcome to modern technology. It glides smoothly, doesn't stick, there's nothing to snag on. it gets hot when you have it at max temperature. A glove would be nice. It has an odd smell but I suppose it will fade with use. Overall I was more than satisfied. This usually takes 30-45 minutes. lasted about 10. It leaves my hair polished and smooth. Can't tell if I've tried curling with it, but I've done some S-like waves and they turned out great. This good.
