I always had these blocks on hand when my red-eared turtles were little and my husband and I were about to travel. Between two small turtles the blocks would easily last a week which saved us the worry of feeding our turtles while we were away. They were also very fond of eating these blocks. As they grew we started using two blocks instead of one. Once they are around 3.5 to 4 inches tall (measured across the width, not head to tail!), they will easily eat a block in a day. At this point we had to invest in an automatic feed/pellets dispenser. These blocks are great for small tortoises or if you have larger tortoises, but they only go away for 1-3 days. Of course, if your turtles are bigger, you'll need to use a few blocks depending on how many days you're away. They're definitely great to have on hand for emergencies.
