Don't waste your time or money: you have been warned
I'm pretty sure the hard drive worked as soon as I opened the package but I can't tell you because mine has been for an hour The computer couldn't read the drive and all I heard was a beep from the hard drive, an indication that something was wrong with the hard drive. Within 2 days Seagate Technical Support told me to either return the unit or replace it. Don't waste your time. Not a durable/reliable product.
