Review on HyperX Alloy FPS Pro Tenkeyless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: Compact & Clicky with Cherry MX Blue - Red LED Backlit! by Patrick Stephani

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for high-end gaming, but at the same time just a good overall keyboard.

This is a great keyboard. I prefer it to my previous Corsair Cherry MX Red motherboard (and all my other keyboards) and it's a lot more fun to play and type on. The board is very minimalistic and aesthetically pleasing, which got me hyped a lot because the aforementioned keyboard was too fancy and visually unusable. But the switches were definitely a standout feature for me and I say that as someone who was very skeptical about them, having recently tried the Kailh Box range of switches and ended up being quite disappointed (at least for gaming use) . I also like these switches more than any of my other switch types, be it Romer-G, Razer Purples, Cherry MX Browns/Black/Reds/Blues or whatever. They're just amazing and I felt my game brought a lot of benefits. Even my noob Osu! The game has shown some improvements. There definitely seems to be a reduction in response time when wiggling or adapting to the enemy player's movements, as well as a significant reduction in lag when spamming buttons. I've been testing the switches in games over the past few months to see what works best, so I'm sure I'll say it. I can't say if they are any better than MX Silvers as I haven't tried them yet. a big selling point for me. I don't really care about RGB, but when it's on the board I turn it on and leave it solid unless there's some nifty effect like Razer's fire waves or various GMMK wave effects. However, the software was extremely basic and it took me quite a bit of effort to figure out how to set my board's default profile. There are also far fewer customization options for effects and lighting schemes compared to competing software offerings. . So consider this a big minus if you're looking for some sophisticated RGB lighting and profile management. It didn't work though, which I can't say about the Logitech and Corsair programs as in my experience they both turned off some lights on their respective keyboards or failed to save to device memory. Bottom line: I highly recommend this keyboard and am typing it in just two days of receiving it. I was very surprised. I'd say unless you're a fan of stiffer switches, or you absolutely don't need to use tactile/clicky switches, or you just don't have the patience to get used to the more sensitive switches in a day or three, you'll be fine with quite a bit Security don't be disappointed. . I will list some of the cons below, but please note that I cannot praise this keyboard enough. Small drawbacks: The switches are quite wobbly. You can place your finger on the button and move it slightly in a wide arc when in the down position. If you were hoping for sturdier buttons like many of Razer's newer options or out-of-the-box options, you'll be disappointed. BUT I would say it's less noticeable in use than Cherry MX shifters as you don't drop the Kailh Speed Silver as much due to the higher actuation points and stiffer springs. It's like typing in mid-air. Also, the keyboard does seem to flex a bit towards the center when force is applied, at least compared to some of the more solid boards I have. But it wasn't noticeable until I replaced the keycaps with HyperX Milk Pudding. Besides, it didn't really affect me. Finally, the keycaps were a bit stiff on my fingers, almost abrasive. I've seen mentions online of them needing a bit of running, but it was very noticeable after a few hours, after which I switched to the smoother milk puddings mentioned above, which I bought with the board. Kailh switches like the one on this board use standard Cherry stems, so changing keycaps is a breeze with the many keycap sets available online. If you're unhappy with that, that means that. Anyway, I hope this helps someone! I will update if anything changes. But for now I'm 100% satisfied and will be using it as my main keyboard for the foreseeable future.
