This mount really is a superb product.when it works. The first one that I received was DOA, as there was a large speck of debris lodged between the polarized elements in the mount. Fotodiox promptly sent me another replacement mount that worked beautifully. It really is so nice to have a mount with ND built in that will allow you to shoot wide open outside during the day without attaching additional filters, all at ISO 1600 on an a7S II! I used this thing all of the time with a whole bunch of lenses (mainly Canon 24-105, 17-40, 70-200 V1), but it recently stopped working with all of my lenses. It's as if someone flipped a switch: one day everything was working just fine, including iris control and image stabilization, and the next day the mount started causing my iris on my 24-105 to repeatedly open and close in rapid succession. My 17-40 started to have issues communicating with the mount, and would reset my iris and make my screen flash white, which also cut whatever clip was currently recording. the IS in my 70-200 also became very unreliable. I can't figure out why the mount just stopped working. It has always been treated well and placed in a protected spot in my pelican case. I had to use my non-ND Fotodiox E-EF mount adapter with a variable ND for the rest of the shoot. I also noticed that some specks of debris had lodged themselves between the two polarized elements in the mount AGAIN. This is a design flaw, for sure. Seal the openings off, because it's impossible to clean anything out from between the elements.I really want to give this a better rating, but there are some QC issues that need to be addressed first. It's just not reliable enough. Just emailed Fotodiox today to see if they will replace the mount or fix the problems it has. I'll update with more news when I get it.
