I use this to control my boat's shore power connection. My boat is docked in the backyard and connected to the shoreline. The GFCI switch intermittently trips (not sure why but it's working on it) and this device sends me a text (after 10 minutes) to warn me. Important because if I lose 110 AC my batteries will fail and if I don't know I've lost power they may die. Luckily, my boat is within range of my home's WiFi. It worked 100% of the time and saved me countless trips to the boat to make sure the power was still on. I just plugged it into a 110AC outlet on the boat and after a very easy initial setup just left it plugged in. When I go to my boat I also get a power off notification, which is to be expected, but when I return to my dock I get an SMS confirming the power is back on. love this thing
