Summary: It works wonders IF you tighten it enough! I had lower back pain (pain on the outside of my knee) that started about a month before the scheduled half marathon. I needed a quick fix so I bought a foam roller that I used several times a day and this strap. I didn't notice any difference initially and I really had the worst pain in the IT group when using it. But the next time I tried it, I pulled MUCH harder than the first time, almost to the point where I was uncomfortable, and I ran 10 miles with no pain! Wonderful! I loosened it up during my half marathon because our race was late and it was uncomfortable being so tight. At mile 3 I started to feel pain in my iliotibial region so I stopped, put it back on and ran the rest of the half marathon pain free! I'm SO excited to have found this solution! (I placed it about 2 inches above the knee with the soft part right in the middle)
