Looking for fast external storage performance for my 2019 16" MacBook Pro (Big Sur), I purchased this Trebleet Thunderbolt 3 NVME SSD enclosure. Results were mixed and different, especially when recording.I tested this with three different NVMe SSDs - Western Digital SN750 Black 500GB, XPG 2TB, Samsung 970 Pro (which are not supported by Trebleet.) I used the Blackmagic speed test for performance testing 500 GB NVMe SSD - 2.3 GB/s read/write speed on the first pass, 1.2 GB/s write speed on all subsequent passes (from 1 to 1.2), and read speed remained at the same level of 2.3 GB/s. Using XPG 2 TB NVMe SSD, write performance was more stable at 1.4 GB/s and read speed at 1.8 GB/s. Trebleet specifically states that they use Samsung 9 70plus NVMe SSD not support. Consistently writes at 1.2 GB/s and reads at 2.5 GB/s. I was expecting sustained write and read performance of 2GB/s as each of these NVMe is capable of that. Unfortunately, I have not. Another issue was the Trebleet's operating temperature, a whopping 115.8 degrees Fahrenheit. I bought a Sabrent USB 3.1 (with USB-C) here on Amazon - Thunderbolt 3, I'm getting stable numbers of 950MB/s and the operating temperature is usually in the 93-96 degree range, and it costs a third of the Trebleet price Devices.
