Review on ๐Ÿช‘ Serta Big and Tall Executive Office Chair: Wood Accents, Adjustable High Back, Ergonomic Lumbar Support - Bonded Leather, Chestnut Brown by Maria Jones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Comfortable but not supportive

APPEARANCE: Attractive enough for any home office. We bought it in gray and for those wondering, the wood accents on the gray chair are definitely walnut in our case. (It looks like the black chair is cherry wood.) But it's not as attractive as the marketing image. The back of the chair is more stained than the rest, and the gray leather feels more like vinyl. Wood accents aren't warm, shiny spots of walnut on nicely grained wood, they're darker with no discernible grain marks and have a silkier finish at best and look a lot cheaper in person. HEIGHT/SIZE: As they say, this is definitely made for very tall and tall people. We added our own wheels so our chair sits approximately 1" higher than when delivered. With this in mind, when the chair is in the highest position, the smaller one stands on tiptoe. COMFORT: Good cushioning with plenty of padding, especially at the front of the seat where it flexes. This is great for leg circulation (doesn't cut off at all when feet are on the ground). So far this is the best part of the chair for us. Two tall/tall people are using this chair (one is 6ft 3" and 285, the other is 5ft 11" and 250), and while the top of the chair's backrest supports the smaller person's head, it feels more like it to a punch in the neck. for the older of us. SUPPORT: We both find that the seat is too low to support our backs at all when sitting properly (upright) and working/writing and there is no way to adjust this. While we could see in the marketing images that the backrest was reclined, we had no idea to what extent and assumed there was a way to adjust the chair's angle, but we were wrong. The lower back of the chair doesn't even touch either of our backs when we're sitting upright, and the lumbar adjustment knob doesn't help, even when tightened to the max. Your back is only supported when you bend forward. Finally, the armrests are stationary, and like armrests, the armrests only really support when you're leaning back. Shipping and assembly went well, however we cannot recommend this chair to people who spend a lot of time in chairs and need good back/lumbar support to get through the day. We'll change this rating if something breaks or changes drastically before the one-year warranty expires.
