DISSAPOINTED best in Freestanding Shoe Racks

Well I think I have what I consider original shoe racks. I decided to purchase because they come with an adjustable piece to make wearing tall boots or boots easier. That's the problem, the adjustable thing keeps closing but won't stay open. I mean they stay open as long as you don't touch them, but as soon as you start moving the shoes they keep breaking. I'm considering using Gorilla Glue or something else to hold them open, but I can't adapt anymore.
