Review on Network Cable Tester RJ45 Measurement by Omar Alradwan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty good homemade testing tool.

Good tester, but there are flaws. It gets the job done, but I wouldn't call it intuitive. The instructions were written by a non-native speaker. Once you figure it out, it's pretty easy to use. Although it tests and finds missing wire ends, if you have an open on either wire of a UTP cable pair, it will show that both wires are open. The instructions claim you can tell where the broken wire is, but that's not the case at all. I didn't check the shorts to see if he could pinpoint the approximate location of the short. It seems like it can reasonably measure distance in M or Ft, but it resets to meters every time you turn it on, which is frustrating when you don't want that. It has 8 transmitter devices and the device can detect which device is connected. which is very convenient. It claims to be able to test for crosstalk, but I would doubt that claim given how it works. It's a basic testing tool that doesn't test for speed or noise, but it's also 1/10th or less the cost of these testers.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
