Another great controller from Binbok

To be honest I'm very impressed with this controller, especially for the price. The body of the controller itself is very comfortable, feeling a little less thick than something like a pro controller, but still ergonomic and solid. All face buttons feel responsive, with satisfying action and resistance. The joysticks feel stiff enough that they don't appear to dangle and wobble or drift, and they return to center well. I was particularly impressed with the dpad after trying it out in a few Nintendo SNES online games, it worked great and any issues I had with the game were my input and not the dpad input scrolling or something. The buttons on the shoulders are fine and functional, although I think the real triggers were a bit messy, which I think could be fixed in the next version if Beanbok just adds a stopper before pressing all the way down, but it's definitely not that great for the price. The software just plugged right into the switch, and the wake-up function worked flawlessly. Personally I'm not a huge fan of RGB lighting, but I'll admit they did a great job with this - the controller looks great with the backlight (especially green) and has the option to turn it off for better battery life if you want to prefer. One point I think they should have advertised is that it charges via USB-C (and even comes with a cable), which is great because it doubles with all your other modern devices (before when I got it I was concerned they would charge via the old micro USB to get that price point). For future improvements other than the stopper for triggers I would only recommend that if they could color match the link light to the rest of the controller that would really tie everything together but those are very minor nitpicks. You forget about a second when you look at the TV/switch. All in all a great job - I would definitely recommend it for the price.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
