This was the best option to replace the old sagging electrical boxes in my house that weren't designed for fans. I bought a total of three of these. The first two installed fine, but I had a problem with the last one. The small bracket that goes over the crossbar has four holes and the outer two holes have screws pressed into them to attach to the electrical box. The wires going into the box had no slack and had to go into the box's retractable holes just below the bracket's screws. I had to remove the screws from the bracket's outer holes and then insert them into a narrower set of holes - much easier said than done as the screws have ridges that hold them in place. I was able to knock out the screws and then drill a hole in some scrap wood slightly larger than the screws so I could support the bracket while hammering the screws back into the narrower holes. In any case, it still worked, but not without effort. extra effort. I wish the manufacturer would make it easier to switch bolts between hole sets. I'm still happy because now my bedroom fans get some solid support.
