I thought these little mugs would be great. They're still more waste than using an Ekobrew K-Cup filter, but I figured it would be easier for my wife and kids to use pre-made filters that they can just take out and throw in for recycling. . . it was worse than anything else we have used. I had the same experience I read about in other reviews; The plastic is 1-2 mil thicker than Keurig-approved K-Cups, allowing the water injection needle to hold the cup by the lid, making it difficult to remove from the machine. All of the "regular cups" we used either put 80% ground coffee in the coffee cup (don't know why; the lids stayed closed and the filters were in the cups, but the ground coffee still leaked out) or there was Slightly weak cup of coffee that the water was barely brown and just tasted like water with a hint of coffee. I followed the advice of several reviews to poke a small hole in the lid with an ice pick, which only resulted in ALL coffees spitting out due to the water not draining properly, resulting in water running all over my counter. They take a long time to fill and are difficult to close even with the "holder" provided. I've come up with my own system of pressing firmly in the center of the lid (not too hard or the cup will break) while pressing on the rim and the lid closes easily almost every time. But after taking 2 hours to fill 50 cups of our favorite coffee grounds, I was seriously pissed when none of the first 5 we tried worked. I was willing to admit I filled them wrong or did something wrong, but after getting even more sick of having different grinds and filter placements and getting the same results every time, my hypothesis is that "simple cups" designed to simply steal your money! We have tried filters that are fully inserted into the bottom of the jar, inserted just below the rim and also coming out of the jar with the rim of the filter so that when closed it is wedged between the rim and the lid; everyone had the same set in the cup or didn't taste like coffee. We also use Kuerig's 'make your own cup' feature, which is great but takes a long time and creates the possibility that you could damage the sled when donning and doffing. . The best DIY mugs we've used have been Ekobrew mugs. They even have filters that can be placed in the cups like "plain cups" but Ekobrew K-Cup cups really work. I was very disappointed with the "simple cups". Value for money I would recommend Ekco brew K-Cups which is also available from Revain at a really great price. I got 4 packs for $26 (Offical Ekobrew) and a box of 300 small filters for $16.49. If you prefer advice from experienced people, then ditch them and find something else. The time you fill these things is the time you can drink coffee and have fun with your friends!
