The first time I installed my pool liner, I did not use one of these pads. I had real trouble with spreading the liner out without making 'divots' in the sand. When I went to replace my liner, I was surprised at how much 'life' had managed to take hold under my liner. Branches, roots, algae, mold, all were in abundance. Some of it was attached to my liner, making it nearly impossible to remove.I don't know yet if this pad will help keep stuff from attacking my new liner; this is my first. But I do know it makes it much easier to install the liner. The new liner slides easily across this, and helps prevent deep indentations/divots in the sand.
